Brilliant
Lecture Series presents the internationally acclaimed violinist and classical
crossover composer, Edvin Marton! He will be performing his Stradivarius Show
for the first time in the United States at the Brown Theater, Wortham Center at
7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 20.
Marton
is a violin prodigy born in Ukraine in 1974. He honed his musical style and sensibility at The Juilliard School of Music, where
he was
exposed to various musical styles and perfected his classical crossover by
mingling with DJs and other musicians performing modern music.
After
graduation, he entered a competition at the Orford Arts Center in Canada where
he won the opportunity to play Niccolo Paganini’s Stradivarius, now on loan to
him for life. It is one of eight Stradivarius violins in playable condition in
the world. Stradivarius instruments –
those originating from the workshop of luthier Antonio Stradivari, are known
for their superior sound quality, rarity and sell for millions of U.S. dollars.
With
the birth of his professional career, Edvin Marton became the first Hungarian
to receive an Emmy Award for Best Composition for “Tosca Fantasy.” In 2008, Marton was the first classical
artist to win an MTV music award for collaborating with Russian singer and
close friend, Dima Bilan, on the song “Believe.”
Now a
household name in the music world, Edvin travels internationally to perform
with his beloved friends who are Olympic ice skaters, world-renowned singers
and crossover classical artists. He is
currently on tour in Asia and preparing for his U.S. debut, right here in
Houston Texas. He will perform on
September 20, 2013 at 7:30, live, inside Houston’s Wortham Theater Center!
